How to Meditate
Welcome and congratulations for having the wisdom and consciousness to decide to learn more about meditation. Whether you are a beginner or already have experience with meditation, I am dedicated to helping you learn how to meditate, how to go deeper into your meditation practice, and how to use meditation to help you overcome the challenges we all face in life.
I have been meditating for over 40 years, I have tried many different meditation techniques. I have been blessed to study with masters in India and all over the world. In 1978 I founded the Spiritual Life Society, Ohio’s oldest yoga and meditation center. In one of my videos I explain the two major meditation techniques of mantra and mindfulness, and I share with you the advantages and disadvantages of both. I encourage you to take advantage of what I have learned. Please, learn from my mistakes, and learn how to meditate and reap all of the benefits from your meditation practice. Whether your interest is practical, spiritual or you would like to use it in conjunction with your specific religious tradition, whichever one that is, I have been there and I can help.
One more thing, I am not a monk. I do not seek solitude. I am from America, married to my wife Susan for 42 years. We have raised 3 children and now have 4 grandchildren. I have worked in the corporate world and owned my own businesses. Susan and I learned how to meditate while students at Cornell University back in 1969. Like you today, I just knew it was something I needed to do, something that would help me lead a healthier, happier, and more productive life. We have meditated every day since. I sit before you as testimony to the fact that meditation works, that it has done all of those things for me and more. We can’t imagine a day without meditation.
Learning how to meditate does not have to be mysterious or difficult and you don’t have to sit in lotus to become an accomplished meditator. And please, let me dispel a major myth up front. You do not have to calm your mind to meditate. If you can already calm your mind why learn how to meditate? It is the meditation technique that works to make your mind calmer. Note, I didn’t say perfectly calm. Calmer is the goal here.
So whether you are just beginning your journey into meditation or are looking for help on the journey you have already begun, I am here for you. I will offer you my insights on how to meditate and reveal a variety of secrets along the way. All of the basics can be found in my book How to Meditate, Secrets to the Easiest and Most Effective Meditation Technique. With it you will receive a download of me leading you through a complete meditation session. But more than that, on this website you will find many helpful articles and videos to help you on your journey. I share with you secrets to relaxation and the three areas in your body that hold the most stress. I will go into details on specific breathing techniques and what to do with your tongue which I describe as the most dangerous muscle in your body. There is a video on hand positions and various ways to sit for meditation. Keep checking back as I continue to add new teachings on a regular basis.
